The iron curtain has fallen!
70 missionaries from Grace Church come to Hungary to bring the Gospel to the Hungarians. Greater Grace Christian Academy is established for the purpose of educating the children of the more than 60 international missionaries in Hungary.
1992
A rapidly expanding international community
GGCA advertises to the rapidly expanding international community in Budapest. 15 missionary kids and 30 international and Hungarian students are enrolled.
1993
Moving from five classrooms rented in a Hungarian school,
the school sees a breakthrough in the growth with the signing of a long-term rental contract for a school facility on Matyas Kiraly ut in the 12th district. The Ministry of Education officially recognizes the school as an American international school.
1994
The size of the new property makes it possible for enrollment to triple.
Enrollment triples to 195 students by 1996. The initial mission of educating missionary children has expanded, as our student body includes children of Hungarian and expatriate diplomats, businessmen and educators.
2004
GGIS is here to stay
Greater Grace Christian Academy becomes Greater Grace International School as the school is established in the marker of international schools in Budapest. GGIS is here to stay.
2005
GGIS moves to the current location in the leafy surrounds of Budagyongye.
2011
GGIS celebrates 20 years of educational excellence.

GGIS celebrates 25 years
In April 2016, GGIS received full, unconditional accreditation from the Association of Christian Schools International and Middle States Accreditation. GGIS has reached the status of one of Budapest’s premier learning institutions.
2020
GGIS to move to online school for grades Prep1-12
SARS Covid 19 causes GGIS to move to online school for grades Prep1-12. Enrollment and the quality of education remains high due to the hard work, expertise and dedication of teachers and staff. Students were able to stay connected and to maintain their academic and personal development during this difficult period of history.
2022
The school returns to full operation
The restoration of all academic and extracurricular programs. Staff and students return with a fresh appreciation for in-person classes and their relationships with schoolmates and teachers.
